The association

A story of action and solidarity

Amici di Filippo was founded in 1983 in memory of Filippo Lovatelli, explorer and man of action. For more than forty years we have carried out practical projects — hospitals, wells, schools, farms — guided by a simple principle: work on the ground, alongside the communities, until every project is handed over to the people who live it.

Weragu · mountain area · 2,000 m a.s.l.

A clinic for the Weragu mission

The only health facility for 50,000 people is a clinic built of mud and straw, no longer safe. We are building a new one in masonry.

Alaba · SNNPR · southern Ethiopia

Water for the Alaba school

The Consolata Fathers' school takes in 850 children, but has no drinking water. A collection and purification system will change that.

New classrooms for the Alaba school

Enrolment requests grow every year. Three new classrooms will give around 90 more children the chance to study in proper conditions.

Where we work

Ethiopia, the central highlands

We work in Ethiopia's Rift Valley region: the Gambo mission, the Alaba school, the Weragu clinic. Places reachable only after hours on dirt tracks, where one water tank or one extra classroom changes the life of a village.
